Why does Copper use a 2.4 GHz connection instead of 5 GHz?

Why does Copper use a 2.4 GHz connection

Dual-band routers transmit both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz.

The 5GHz band provides a faster connection, but it also has a lesser range. In addition, the 5 GHz band is also less able to penetrates barriers such as walls. Consequently, wireless devices such as your Copper unit tend to rely on the 2.4 GHz band.
